NOW RECRUITING: Family caregivers for a research study!
This project seeks to better understand the experiences and challenges of family caregivers as it relates to the mental (cognitive and emotional) labor they perform during routine caregiving activities.
Caregivers who meet the following criteria can participate:
18 years or older
Provide care for a family member or friend who is 50 years or older and has a long-term illness or disability that is NOT related to Alzheimer’s or dementia.
Do NOT live with the person that you care for.
Do NOT care for an adult child or spouse.
The person who receives care does not live in a nursing home or skilled nursing facility.
Complete a 1 to 2 hour interview either in person or over Zoom.
(optional) Submit 1 to 3 short journal entries after the interview.
(optional) Review transcripts or emerging findings for accuracy.
Time commitment could range between 1 to 5 hours depending on how many of these activities you complete.
Participants will be asked about their experiences with routine caregiving activities. This should pose no greater risk or discomfort than a person experiences on a regular basis.
Sharing one’s perspective may help caregivers feel acknowledged, understood, and supported. All participants will receive a "Family Caregiver Resource Guide" which provides national, state, and community-based resources for caregivers and their care recipients.
The research findings may help researchers, educators, practitioners, and policymakers better understand and identify ways to improve support for family caregivers now and in the future. All research findings will be de-identified and stored confidentially.
